Refractory castables can usually be classified according to the types of binders, refractory aggregates and porosity.

1. According to the type of cementing agent and the way of binding, it can be divided into:

A.  Hydrated bonded castables, For example: Portland cement bonded refractory castables; aluminate cement bonded refractory castables; and p-Al2O3 bonded refractory castables. B. (hydration + condensation) bonded castable , for example: low cement bonded refractory castables, ultra-low cement bonded refractory castables. C. Condensation bonded castable, for example: clay bonded refractory castables, superfine powder bonded refractory castables, silica sol or aluminium sol bonded refractory castables. D. Chemical bonded castables, for example: sodium silicate bonded refractory castables, phosphate and phosphate bonded refractory castables, polyphosphate bonded refractory castables, sulfate bonded refractory castables and phenolic resin bonded castables, etc.2. According to refractory raw materials, they are divided into:Siliceous,Semi-silica,Clay; High aluminum, corundum, magnesia, spinel and special aggregate refractory castables(Special aggregates include silicon carbide, chromium slag, zircon, etc.).3. According to the porosity rate: Dense castables and lightweight castables.
